Specifications for each batch are agreed before shipment using the available quality data and the terms of the deal. Analysis and document requirements depend on the crop, route and counterparty.
How batch quality is agreed
Batch information
The seller provides the crop, volume, loading point and available quality indicators.
Sampling and analysis
If laboratory analysis is required for the deal, the parties agree the sampling procedure and the indicators to be tested.
Fixing specifications
Class, moisture, protein or oil content, impurities and other material indicators are fixed in the deal terms.
Documents
The document list depends on the crop, route and counterparty requirements and is agreed before shipment.
EUDR and soybean shipments to Europe
The EUDR entered into force on 29 June 2023. Its main obligations start applying on 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators and on 30 June 2027 for most micro and small operators. Soy is one of the commodities covered by the Regulation.
For a specific deal, the applicable requirements depend on the role of each supply-chain participant and the European counterparty. Origin and traceability data should be agreed with that counterparty. Current rules should be checked on the official European Commission website. European Commission
