Current application dates
The European Commission states that EUDR applies from 30 December 2026 to large and medium operators and to micro and small operators already covered by the EU Timber Regulation. For other micro and small operators, the application date is 30 June 2027.
What changed in summer 2026
On 13 July the Commission announced updates to the EUDR product scope and technical tools. The list of underlying commodities did not change: soy remains covered. The updated product list removes soybeans for sowing and certain derived products from scope.
Practical relevance for soy supplied to the EU
EUDR duties primarily sit with operators and traders placing relevant products on the EU market or exporting them from the EU. However, they may require origin and traceability information from suppliers further up the chain. For export transactions, it is therefore important to agree the required data and documents with the counterparty in advance.
